motionball is a not for profit that builds awareness and raises funds for the Special Olympics Canada Foundation. Our mandate is to introduce the next generation of donors, volunteers, and sponsors to the Special Olympics movement through integrated social and sporting events across the country!


We are seeking a driven and energetic self-starter for our current opening- Intern, Fundraising and Events. Reporting to motionball’s Manager, Events & Operations and working closely alongside the National Administrative Event Coordinator and Communications & Event Coordinator. This position will mainly be responsible for providing support to execute some of Toronto’s top large scale fundraising events geared towards philanthropic young professionals.

Four month contact from January-April, with the possibility of extending into a full-time role. An honorarium provided at the end of completed term.


  • Provide event support, including but not limited to the motionball Toronto Gala and Marathon of Sport Toronto
  • Support with silent auction item solicitation, procurement, tracking, and donor thank you
  • Research and prospect potential new corporate and community partners to develop a strong donor pipeline in cities motionball is present
  • Support with sponsorship activation to deepen relationships with our major partners including top brands such as Under Armour, Air Miles, Molson and Pita Pit
  • Assist with the planning of other motionball events including our Calgary Gala, motionball University program and more!
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials such as event brochures and signage
  • Provide support for our national volunteer program including database management and recognition
  • Participate in growth strategies discussions to help drive fundraising revenue and community impact
  • Assist with various administrative duties
  • Support other staff as needed

  • Currently enrolled in University or College program, or a recent graduate looking to gain experience in fundraising or events
  • Experience in event management or fundraising preferred but not required
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; must be able to interact with the public in a professional and courteous manner
  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced and small team environment
  • Keen analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to take initiative
  • Ability to multi-task, work in a high-pressure environment and meet required deadlines
  • Strong problem solving and strategic thinking
  • Willingness to travel in the GTA and work outside of typical office hours, as needed per event (Feb 2-3 specifically)
  • Must provide own laptop for daily use
