We were joined on the field on October 21st at the EXPO Center by 44 Special Olympic athletes and 24 teams! We raised over $60,000 net at the 2023 Marathon of Sport Edmonton! Check out motionball’s facebook page for pictures!
HOW TO GET INVOLVED
How Does It Work? Recruit a Team of up to 10 friends, family or colleagues to join us on the field for a fun-filled day of sport! Each Team will be joined by 1-2 local Special Olympics athletes and together, you will participate in a variety of sports and activities such as: basketball, bocce, soccer, football, giant pong, giant volleyball, ultimate and so much more!
Ready to hit the field? There are 3 ways to Register:
Corporate: As a Corporate Team, your organization will donate $1000 to motionball, waiving the $50 registration fee and inviting up to 10 employees to participate at no cost. You will also receive online and onsite logo recognition. This is a great Team Building and employee engagement opportunity all while supporting an amazing cause!
Standard Team: As a Standard Team, you and your teammates will each donate $50 to register and work together to reach your Team fundraising goal of $1000. Refund your registration and play for free when you reach your individual fundraising goal of $100!
Free Agents: Register with a smaller group and we’ll pair you up with another group of local young professionals for the day! Similar to a Standard Team, each participant will donate $50 to register and will have an individual fundraising goal of $100!
Included in the $50 registration for both Corporate and Standard Teams, each participant will receive:
- motionball hat and shirt
- Lunch & refreshments
- opportunity to earn motionball Incentives
- the chance to play alongside the incredible Special Olympics athletes from our Community!

motionball is proud to donate 70% of the funds raised from motionball Edmonton events to Special Olympics Alberta. This funding is directed to support programs for local athletes in the community. 25% is directed to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation, whose mission is to ensure the long-term financial integrity of the Special Olympics movement in Canada and to fund long term athlete and volunteer growth. The remaining 5% will help grow the #NoGoodWay Campaign aiming to end the use of the R-word (retard) in everyday conversation. We’re encouraging Canadians to make the choice to eliminate the R-word from their vocabulary and empower them to take #NoGoodWay to their circles of influence.
motionball’s mandate is to introduce the next generation of volunteers and donors to the Special Olympics movement through integrated social and sporting events. motionball now hosts 50+ annual events in 27 cities across Canada. motionball is proud to have donated $15M to the Special Olympics Canada Foundation since our inception in 2002.
